Do you only work with local companies?
The beauty of the web is that we can work with clients from all over the world! The internet really makes the world so small. The majority of our clients are local (Nanaimo, Comox Valley, Victoria and Vancouver), but we’ve worked with clients from New York, Montreal and even London. There are no geographical limitations.
What kind of files will I receive?
You will receive a PDF, TIFF, PNG and GIF of your new logo. We do not release native files (such as .ai's or .psd's). PDF files are scaleable and are perfectly suitable for signage, vehicle wraps, tshirt printing and much more!
Sometimes, we may come up with several concepts before settling on your final design. Please keep in mind that, even with discarded ideas and designs that don’t make the final cut for publication, the ownership still lies with the original author (designer) for copyright.
I already have a logo. Can you use it to create new marketing pieces?
Of course! However, if the only version of your logo is a low resolution jpg, we may have to look at recreating it. JPG’s do not scale well, so if we have to blow it up for a billboard (for example), the quality will be very poor. Your best scenario is to have a pdf or a vector of your logo. Not sure if your files are usable? Contact us and we can let you know.
What is a domain name?
Just as your house has an address, your website has a domain name. For example, our domain name is pyedesign.ca. Once you have your domain name, it’s important to protect it. If it expires, someone else can purchase it. For this reason, we always recommend setting your domain name on auto-renew. You can even have multiple domain names and point them all at the same site. Of course, if you don’t want to deal with purchasing or managing a domain name, we can do that for you!
What is your turnaround time?
Depends somewhat on the scope of the job, but typically websites can be turned around in 8-10 weeks and branding packages in about 4 weeks. It also depends on how quickly we receive your content and feedback. Rush turnaround is usually available if discussed ahead of time.
What is hosting and do I need it?
If a domain name is like your house address, hosting is like your property lot. It’s merely the space where your website will go. Without hosting, you won’t have a place for your website to reside, so your domain would then become like a disconnected phone number. We do provide hosting and most clients make do with the basic package, which costs $100/year.
I have sticker shock...
No worries! No impulse buying here. Branding your business is an investment and shouldn’t be taken lightly. The time, thought and creativity we put into building this phase of your business is intense and it costs money. Think about it this way: What is your time worth? What will a professional presence do for your business? The confidence you gain from having a polished brand that attracts the kind of clients you want, while reflecting your personal style, is priceless! If you aren’t financially ready, start budgeting so you can really do it “right” when the time comes. It will make the process less stressful and chances are you’ll be happier with the outcome.
How much for a website?
How much for a car? Just kidding, sort of.
There are a lot of variables when it comes to websites. While very basic sites start around $2000, it’s best to have a chat to figure out your website needs and go from there.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
Projects over $300 require a 50% deposit. There are a few reasons for this. For one thing, larger projects can take months to complete. It’s also a matter of trust, on our end and on yours. A deposit holds both of us accountable. Deposits also allow us to make project-related purchases, whether that be templates, fonts, or stock images.
